United States Semiquincentennial
250 Years Of American Democracy.
A Note From Daniel M. DiLella, Chairman Of The U.S. Semiquincentennial Commission:
Dear Fellow Americans,
On behalf of myself and my fellow Commissioners, I invite you to join the celebration of the 250th anniversary of the United States. The U.S. Semiquincentennial Commission and its nonprofit partner, the America 250 Foundation, have the distinct privilege of helping our country commemorate 250 years of achievement, struggle, and sacrifice, while framing the dialogue and inclusive vision for the next 250.
To observe this momentous occasion, the U.S. Semiquincentennial Commission will actively encourage each and every American to remember our past, celebrate our achievements, and dedicate ourselves to a promising future. We are reaching out to individuals, communities, state and local governments, cultural institutions, national parks, and proud partners across the country over the next six years—to inspire the American spirit in ways that are meaningful to all.
We have much to be proud of as Americans, and the past 250 years have been a grand experiment in democracy. The U.S. is among the oldest democratic republics in the history of the world. Our nation has not always lived up to its founding ideals—yet those ideals have never ceased to guide us. Through it all, we have remained committed to the pursuit of the more perfect union our founders envisioned.
Please join me in planning and participating in the events, programs, and experiences that will fully honor our country.
Respectfully,
